How fast "can" your plane go?

Here is a simple mathematical equation to determine how fast your plane can go. This is strictly based on the prop RPM and the pitch of the prop. To account for the drag of the airframe multiply by somewhere between .85 to .95. Play with the drag factor to see how clean your airframe is.

RPM * Pitch / 1056 = miles per hour

Example: for the Zodiac 601 with the continental 0-200 engine and 58 pitch prop

(2500 x 58) / 1056 = 137.3 mph x .90 = 123.3 mph
